So much for THE MOST DRAMATIC ROSE CEREMONY IN BACHELOR HISTORY.
Colton Underwood says in a new interview that he may be responsible for the most dramatic disappearance in Bachelor history.
Indeed, the sexless 26-year old tells Entertainment Tonight that he simply vanished at one point during the filming of Season 23.
“I was gone for a while. In that moment, and the feelings I was feeling, I left the show,” Underwood told ET, explaining why some Bachelor promos featured him leaping over an actual fence.
“I needed time to myself,” he explains.
This is certainly a new one, even for the most seasoned viewers of this very long-running ABC competition.
Based on our series of The Bachelor spoilers, numerous suitors actually walked away from the series this season.
But at least they simply told Colton and producers what was going on.
Underwood alleges here that no one, not even Chris Harrison, knew of his whereabouts after he made his exit.
“In the moment I was gone,” he continued. “There was no Bachelor.”
It seems a little hard to believe that Underwood could hop a wall and instantly be gone, but Colton swears he was off on his own for awhile.
“I’m a resourceful guy! I’m in Colorado, right? I know how to make a little bonfire, fight off some coyotes or whatever we got to do,” Underwood laughed about the situation, adding that he just had to peace out because thinga had become “a little overwhelming.”
Okay, this part of a lot hard to believe.
Underwood is trying to say he spent several hours just by himself in the woods?
Making fires and fighting off wild animals?
“I don’t want to say anything [about leaving the show] and have it taken out of context,” Underwood added, exceling here at the promotional game and urging viewers to watch The Bachelor online or on television each week.
“I want you guys to be on the roller coaster with me… it’s just a roller coaster of emotions,” he noted.
How as Underwood found?
How was he convinced to return?
“Chris Harrison finds me… you’ll see how that convo went,” the former NFL player teases.
“There’s just a lot of emotions that go into finding love, obviously. But there’s a lot of emotions that went into filming the show, too.”
Did he cry during this self-imposed hiatus?
“Of course,” Colton tells ET.
Underwood, who sent seven women packing on The Bachelor premiere and who kissed two others, admits this was a “breakdown” of some kind, but sounds happy he came back to the show.
“Even heading into this new year, I’m still continuing to grow. I’m not perfect, I know that, [but] I want to really enjoy this… this experience, this opportunity, and really just go on this roller coaster with everybody,” he concluded.
“I do think I still have a lot of room to grow.
“I’m excited. 2019’s going to be a great year.”
